The Flying Karamazov Brothers are headed back to off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre for an open-ended engagement of 4Play. The show, which received excellent reviews during a February run at the Minetta Lane, will begin previews on July 22 and open on August 8.
A unique blend of music, comedy, dance, theater, and juggling, 4Play features the Flying Karamazov Brothers (Mark Ettinger, Rod Kimball, Stephen Bent and writer/director Paul Magid), a troupe of new vaudevillians who juggle till they drop. The audience is invited to bring objects to the theater for the Karamazovs to keep airborne in a challenge that ends either with a pie in the face or a standing ovation, making each show a unique experience and sometimes a messy one. The objects, musical instruments (traditional and invented) and their own bodies combine to make a fresh and compelling evening.
4Play is choreographed by Doug Elkins, with music direction by Mark Ettinger, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by David Hutson, set design by the Flying Karamazov Brothers and original music by Mark Ettinger, Doug Wieselman and Howard Patterson.
